Precaution-
1 Store the packages in a cool, dry place away from any burning flame and foodstuff.
2 Do not use the empty container for storage of food or drinking water.
3 Cooking utensils, food stuff, dyed silk and artificial yarn clothing should be covered during fumigation.
4 Do not eat, drink, chew or smoke during application.
Safety-
In case poisonous symptoms occur, call the doctor immediately. If ingested, induce vomiting or carry out gastric lavage with care to prevent aspiration. Treat symptomatically. If skin is contaminated, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and soap. If eyes are contaminated, irrigate with normal saline or water for about 15 minutes and refer to doctor.
Instructions for use-
Canon Plus is a self-sustaining controlled gas-producing composition. It is packed in an aluminium container with a tagger plate and tight fitting lid. The ignition wick is placed between the tagger plate and lid. When the wick is ignited, smoke is produced which contains fine particles of Permethrin in vapour form, all of which is deposited on surfaces with which it comes into contact with including the ceiling as well as cracks and crevices, in false ceilings, under carpets, behind paintings and posters, thus killing all creeping, crawling, flying insects in the area, fumigating the whole premises rather than fumigating in parts.
Storage-
1 The product should be stored in a separate room under lock and key.
2 The room or premises meant for storing the insecticide should be dry, well-lit and ventilated to avoid contamination with vapour.
Dosage-
Normally one container of Canon Plus of 125 grams is sufficient to treat an area of 600 sq ft with 16 ft ceiling height and 45 grams is sufficient to treat an area of 200 sq ft with l6 ft ceiling height, but where the total area of the exposed surfaces is high or where the infestation is heavier and ceiling is higher, large quantities,
i.e., 2 to 3 containers may be used for a similar space (i.e.225m3)
Method of application-
1 Find the cubic volume of space to be treated and the area of the exposed surfaces and examine the nature of the infestation. From these details decide the quantity of Canon Plus to be used.
2 Place the required number of containers well distributed over the floor space to ensure even distribution of fumes in the space under fumigation. If only one container is to be used, place it in the center of the area of treatment.
3 Close all windows and doors except the one through which the operator has to leave the premises.
4 Remove the outer lids on the containers and then start igniting the wick with a match stick.
5 If more than one container is to be used in a parlicular space, commence igniting the containers from the distant end, away from the open door. This operation should be concluded as quickly as possible before the fumes from the lit containers obstruct the view. After igniting the last container, the operator should close the door and leave the premises.
6 Leave the space closed under the action of generated smoke for about seven hours so that a complete and lasting effect is achieved.
7 Ventilate by opening doors and windows. The smoke
will disperse in the atmosphere.
Disposal of containers-
The packages should be broken and buried away from the habitation avoiding environmental and water pollution.
Toxicity of the active ingredient (Permethrin)-
